I'm a lifelong nature enthusiast, writer & photographer based in Buffalo, NY. Passionate about exploring the natural world, I enjoy sharing my experiences through writing and visual media. I feel blessed to have explored much of North America, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Caribbean, and many western European countries. My interests range from capturing everyday backyard critters, to creating images of iconic North American megafauna and landscapes. I also love photographing the world’s discarded objects and forgotten places, to acknowledge bygone eras and lifeways.
I started my professional life as an archaeologist, and carried out fieldwork in Florida, Italy, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Massachusetts, Ontario, and the northern Yukon. During this time, my photography was more documentary than it was expressive and creative.
Later, I transitioned to the technology field, and spent many years raising and supporting a family. Understandably, photography became more focused on people and family life during those years.
Since retirement, I’ve renewed my passion for the outdoors, and started using photography to share the many gifts I've received from Mother Nature. Years ago, a chance workshop with renowned nature photographer Jim Clark (who has since become a good friend) was the catalyst for my creative photographic journey.
